Friday, the end of the working week for most and a wonderful opportunity to do some creative writing exercises, today in the form of random phrases creative writing prompts. The idea here is that I give you a list of ten random phrases and you are to use them in writing a story, poem, or piece of flash fiction. Being given a set of random phrases is a great way to get over that writer’s block and just let the words flow. Try it, and you will see how helpful this kind of creative writing prompt can be.
The random phrases:
Having taken courage
The Brackenridge and Lane
Urging the party
Exhibit much rank
Difficult to estimate
On their annual cruise
Causing considerable inquiry
Feelings awaiting
Inevitably replied
Here in this city
The instructions:
Read through the above list of phrases careful until you think you have the beginnings of a story, poem or flash forming in you mind. Start writing then, and use all of the above phrases in your creation. Try to write for at least 30 minutes and go back to edit what you have written only after some time has passed. At that point you make take out as many of the original phrases as you wish.
