Well it is the beginning of another week and time for a fresh start on doing some creative writing exercise. If you are, like me, participating in the NaNoWriMo challenge then you are probably finding that you do not have quite as much time for other things which includes doing writing exercises. I understand, it is quite an exercise to be writing a 50 000 word novel in 30 days so keep up the good work! And for those who still want to get some writing practice in we have a lovely random phrases creative writing prompt and the goal here is that ten randomly chosen phrases inspire you to write an entire story, poem or perhaps even a novel. You’d be surprised how far a few phrases can take you!
The random phrases prompts:
1. Sitting overhead
2. Acceptable passenger
3. A powder modelled beautifully
4. Observed much abroad
5. Jolly and loud
6. Failing to interpret what comes next
7. Remarkably discouraging
8. A great pull
9. Commercially live
10. The figure eight
The instructions:
Read the phrases and try to connect them into a story, or poem. Look beyond just the words and into the world that they are trying to bring forth. Once you feel like you have the start of a story, start writing and don’t stop until you have completed the first draft. Write for 30 minutes at least, and use all of the above phrases. When you go back to edit it all you can leave as many of them out.
