Creative Writing Prompts: Random Phrases to a Story #4

Just a simple random phrases creative writing prompts exercise today, since it is Monday and it is difficult enough to start a brand new working week, without the added hassle. The idea behind this type of creative writing exercise is to write a story, poem, flash fiction or whatever from a set of random phrases which are supposed to trigger that story in your mind. For the first drat you should try o use all of the phrases as they appear in the writing exercises, though in later drafts you might decide to omit or shorten some.

This exercise is primarily aimed at helping you, the writer, to start writing. For anyone trying to make a career of writing it is important to realize that writing is not just sitting around cafes and parks waiting for the inspiration to strike, but rather to be able to write at will. And these kind of creative writing prompts are ideal for getting you into a habit to writing not only when you are inspired to do so, but when ever. So, go ahead and try your skills at today’s creative writing exercise

The random phrases:

since cosmic encoring collectivist

beyond lunatic reimbursing quickness

for low corroding mayday

failing catholic usher carping

from inner nibbled croaking

inside riped homesickness

above jobbed charger

impending tabulated ravage

Mary at the carnival

we went and saw, but what now?

order spark bootlegging

vector redistributing darn

cheap enthralling meow

blind peeving sucks

The instructions:

Read through the above random phrases and try to formulate a story in your mind. Sit down and write that story out using (all) the phrases to do so. You may use the phrases in any order that you like, just try to use them all, at least for the first draft. Once you are comfortable that you have a story try to write the whole thing in one sitting. Go back to revise it only after the first draft is completely finished.
