It’s the end of the week and time for some weekend fun and possibly some getting caught-up with our writing exercises. Today we have random words creative writing prompts and the idea behind these is that you are given a set of ten words which you must utilize to write a story, poem, prose poem or piece of flash fiction from. This is a great way to get a story off the ground, so to speak, since you already have a clear starting point in the form of a few words that you don’t have to come up with by yourself.
The words:
1. Book
2. Calendar
3. Lion
4. City
5. Hot
6. Toy
7. Delete
8. Stupid
9. Lamp
10. Chest
The instructions:
First read through the above random set of words then copy them out and start writing a piece of fiction that will ultimately contain all of them. You can use them in any order, but just make sure you use them all. Once you have a good hold on your idea start writing immediately and don’t stop for at least 30 minutes. After that put it aside for awhile and only go back to edit it later, once the initial excitement of getting the first draft done has died down. Otherwise you might end up changing the whole thing.
Stay creative!
