Creative Writing Prompts: Random Words to a Story #14

in Creative Writing Prompts

It is once again time for some words, random words as creative writing prompts to be precise. The idea behind this type of creative writing exercise is that you are given a set of words which you must then use in a story, in any order that you wish so long as you use all of them. This exercise, as well as all the other forms of creative writing prompts exercises, is great when you are suffering from that pesky writer’s block when nothing you write seems good enough. Do a few of these and all of that will soon be forgotten.

The words:

1. Network
2. Message
3. Fighter
4. Cards
5. Friends
6. Rock
7. Coffee
8. Visit
9. Motorcycle
10. Wave

The instructions:

Read through the above set of words until some sort of germ of a story or poem starts to form in your mind, then start writing. Free write for at least 30 minutes and try to finish a complete first draft in this time. Use all of the given words. After you are done, set it aside and let it sit for a few days, then return to it and fix it up into a second or even third draft.

Stay creative!
