For the end of the week, we have the creative writing exercise that is based on the random words prompts. The idea here is that ten randomly chosen words act as the catalyst between the empty page in front of you and the story that rests in your mind you are trying to coax out. Pretty simple, huh? If you are skeptical about this sort of thing really working I implore you to try doing one (or more) of the creative writing prompts exercises on this site and see for yourself just how quickly an entire story (or poem) can be written just based on a few starting words. Just give it an honest try.

3. Zodiac
4. Vault
5. Soup
6. Water
7. If
8. Style
9. Content
10. Doctor
The instructions:
Read through the above list of words several time focusing on a story that is trying to come out from behind these words. Once you are comfortable that you at least have the inkling of such a story, start writing and don’t stop until you have a rough, first draft down on paper. Try to write for at least 30 minutes, and make this your writing time during which you suffer no interruptions. Edit the rough draft only after you have let it sit for a day or so.
