Words, so many, yet sometimes so hard to string together into a coherent whole. Especially, if you are in the middle of combatting writer’s block. However, this is what this blog is here for (among other things), to help you get over the fear of the blank page and just get stuff written. Today creative writing exercise is in the form of random words creative writing prompts. The aim is that you write a complete first draft of a story, poem or piece of flash fiction using the ten words provided. These random words are supposed to serve as inspiration for the complete story that only you can come up with.
The words prompts:
1. Wit
2. Exclusive
3. Permit
4. Heaviest
5. Fringe
6. Content
7. Equate
8. Resolving
9. Seaworthy
10. Tactfulness
The instructions:
First read through the list a few times, and the whole concentrate on filling in the blanks between the words, in the sense of completing a story or poem, of course. Once a story has emerged from between these words, sit down, take a few deep breaths and start writing. Use all of the above words in the story, and write for at least 30 minutes. Try to come away from this writing session with at least a rough draft of what you were aiming to write. Edit the story after a few days have passed when you can look at it with fresh eyes.
