Well another week has passed, which also means the last creative writing prompt of the week. Today we have the random words creative writing prompts, and the idea here is that I give you a list of ten words chosen randomly and you must then string these ten words together into a story, poem, or piece of flash fiction. While it may, at first glance, look hard and rather unlikely to result in fantastic stories and the like, I can pretty much guarantee that if you apply yourself and give this writing exercise an honest try it will help you get writing!
The words prompts:
1. Biology
2. Legend
3. Fountain
4. Merlin
5. Mask
6. Slippers
7. Timer
8. Rat
9. Child
10. Lip
The instructions:
Read through the above words a few times until you feel that a story is behind them and that you are ready to write that story whether as a short story, poem or flash. Start writing once that happens and try to write an entire first draft in one sitting. Use all of the words. Write for at least 30 minutes either way and then set the story aside for some time, until you can return to in with fresh eyes and begin the process of revision.
