It’s the end of then week and almost the end of November, the National Novel Writing Month. I for one have already verified my official victory, how a bout you. I do hope that many of you have as well, though it is not so important to win, it is far more important to get into the habit of writing, of setting writing goals and seeing those goals come to fruition. So just to help you get started on all this writing related stuff, I have a lovely random words writing prompt for you today. The idea here is that you take a list of ten randomly chosen words and string them together into a short story or a poem. It is a lot easier than it sounds and very rewarding.
The random words writing prompt:
1. Banned
2. Search
3. Household
4. Warmth
5. Cat
6. Knife
7. Rules
8. Trust
9. Lily
10. Light
The instructions:
Read the above ten words and imagine a story or poem that could string them all together into a complete work of art. Once you have that story in front of your eyes, start writing and don’t stop for at least thirty minutes, or, better yet, until you have completed the entire first draft. Give it some time after you finish, then return to it and rework and rewrite it into a finished product.
