Well, it’s the start of another wonderful winter week and even though there are many presents to buy, trees to decorate and snow to shovel we can always find some time to do some creative writing exercises. Writing regularly and not just when we feel inspired to is what separates those who are serious about writing from those who are just doing it for fun, since, as it is with all activities so it is also with writing, Practice makes perfect. Anyway, today we have some random words creative writing prompts and the idea is that I give you a set of ten words and you must string them together into a story or a poem. I suggest we just get started!
The random words writing prompts:
1. Den
2. Carrot
3. Thief
4. Hole
5. Green
6. Sparrow
7. Lucy
8. E-mail
9. Fence
10. Middle
The instructions:
Read through the above list of words and try to see the story that might connect them all in any way, shape or form, so long as it is coherent. Once you are comfortable that you have this story, start writing and don’t stop for at least 30 minutes. Free write, and then set what you have written aside for a few days before coming back to edit it.
