Before we get started on today’s exercise I would just like to let you know that I added a new list of all the creative writing books I would recommend you read. You can access it by clicking RECOMMENDED READINGS in the navigation menu above, or this link.
Ok, and now with that out of the way, we can get started on the writing. Today we have random words creative writing prompts, and the idea here, as you probably already know, is that I give you a list of 10 randomly chosen words and you must then work these words into an entire story, poem or piece of flash fiction. Doing these types of creative writing exercises is especially great for getting over that pesky writer’s block, but also to get some writing practice in. Try to write for at least 30 minutes when you do this exercise, and then edit what you have written only after a few days have passed.
The random words:
• situation
• emotion
• matching
• blink
• feed
• flat
• hip
• through
• extend
• nearby
Stay creative!
