Monday, the start of another day and almost the start of Autumn or Fall all in one day. Well hopefully, you’re experiencing some nice sunshine where you live, and if not I guess tomorrow is another day. To ease you into another week of doing writing exercises we have the story starter sentence creative writing prompt and the idea behind writing prompts of this type is that you are given a complete sentence from which you must then write a story. It is not necessary to use the given sentence as the first or opening sentence of the story, though you are welcome to do so. The aim is for the sentence to inspire a story and to be used in it somewhere.
The story starter sentence:
One by one the trees will lose their leaves and then the snow will fall, or maybe not, given the irregularity of the weather these past few years.
The instructions:
Read the above sentence a few times relaxing your mind just enough for a story to start forming in your mind around it or emanating from it. Once you are comfortable that you have a workable idea firmly in your mind start writing and don’t stop for at least 30 minutes, or for as long as your allocated writing time lasts. You should definitely come away from this exercise with a rough draft of a story, something that you can work on and perfect over the next couple of days.
