It is Friday at last, and it is once again time to do some creative writing exercising, so to speak. Today’s writing exercise is in the form of a story starter sentence. The idea behind this type of creative writing exercise is that you are given a sentence and you are supposed to write an entire story based on it. Now, while you are supposed to use the sentence somewhere in the story it does not necessarily have to be the first sentence. It is called the story starter sentence because it is supposed to inspire you to write a story, and not because it is to be the first sentence of the story. Anyway…
The story starter sentence:
Some things need to be said, though sometimes they are meant more for the one saying them.
The instructions:
Read the above sentence a few times and try to imagine the story behind it. Once a story starts to emerge, start writing and don’t stop for at least 30 minutes. Try to finish this exercise with a rough draft of the story, or at least with a good start on finishing it. Over the next few days complete and edit the story, then consider sending it out for publication.
Stay creative!
