Creative Writing Prompts: Story Starter Sentence #19

in Creative Writing Prompts

It is time for that mid-week creative writing prompt. Now that we have all resolved to write more often, because as writers it is what we should be doing to get become better, or should I say amazing writers (see post: How to Write a Novel ), it is time to put that resolve into practice and what better way to achieve that than to try our hand at some creative writing exercises. Today we have the story starter sentence creative writing prompt and the idea behind this type of prompt is that you are given a sentence, which is you allow to inspire an entire story or poem. You can use this sentence as the first line of your piece of writing, or anywhere in the middle, so long as you use it.

The story starter sentence writing prompt:

I hope I have not caused any kind of irreparable damage with my letter.

The instructions:

First, read the sentence a few times until you start to “see” or “feel” a story behind it. Once that happens, start writing and don’t stop until a rough draft of a story or poem is in front of you. Try to write for at least 30 minutes, then once you are done, set the manuscript aside and let it rest for a few days before returning to it and editing it, perhaps even sending it out for publication.

Stay creative!

Ohh… I like this one. :-)

I haven’t been on this site for a long time, but I am glad I remebered its existence. Thanks for all the promps. The starter sentances are definatly my favorite; I have gotten some decent writing out of some of them.

Later!

Lily, of course a couple of paragraphs are better than nothing…they are a whole lot better than nothing ;)
