Today we have a lovely writing prompt in the form of a story starter sentence. Now I know that you must all be very familiar with these by now, but just in case you’re not, the idea behind these type of creative writing prompts is that I give you a sentence that you must then use to write a story or poem from. You can use this sentence anywhere in the story, it does not have to be the first sentence. The aim is that the sentence inspires the story, so have fun with it!
The story starter sentence writing prompt:
The music disguises the regret.
The instructions:
Read the sentence above a few times and try to imagine the story that it comes from. One you feel like you have that story mapped out in your mind, start writing and free write for at least 30 minutes. Try to do the whole first draft in one sitting and then let the story rest for a day or two before rereading it and doing the rewrite.

Some good resources. I also find a good prompt is to check out social sites such as digg.com. The latest topics give a host of issues to write about – not to mention a head start on the research.
