June 8, 2011

in Creative Writing Prompts

Time for this week’s creative writing exercise! Today it is in the form of a story starter sentence and, despite appearances, this exercise is also very well suited to poets. All you must do is simply take the meaning of the sentence and apply it to your creation. Before we get started, though, I would just like to ask you to signup for my monthly newsletter, which will contain just the right amount of creative writing prompts and other goodies. And now for the sentence:

“Why can’t the mother exit?

The instructions:

Read the sentence a few times, and then start writing. All you need is an idea, a first inkling of a story. Write for at least 30 minutes, or longer if you have the time.

Stay creative!
