Creative Writing Prompts: Story Starter Sentence #6

by Vanja on June 15, 2009

The so-called story starter sentences are used as creative writing prompts mainly as a way to inspire you to get started writing a story, poem or whatever other piece of creative writing you might wish to work at. The idea behind it is to be give a sentence, which you can use as an opening sentence of your story somewhere in the middle of your story or just use the idea behind it in your story. So in the end you are quite free to do whatever you want really, just don’t forget the creativity.

The story starter sentence:

Why does the lowered infrastructure warrant a keeper?

The instructions:

Read the sentence above a few times until you get a real feel for the story behind it. Sit down and write out that story in it’s entirety, if you can, and if not just write for at least 30 minutes. The story starter sentence can be used anywhere in the story: as the opening sentence, anywhere in the story, as the title of the story. Alternatively you can rephrase it completely and just use the idea behind it in your story.

So get writing and stay creative!
