It’s the start of another week and what better way to commemorate that than by having a story starter sentence writing prompt to get things moving. The idea behind this type of creative writing exercises is that you are given a simple, or not so simple, sentence that you must use to write a story from. In other words, the story (or poem, or flash, or whatever) must be inspired by the story starter sentence and the story must be used somewhere in the story, though it is not necessary that you use it as the beginning sentence. This exercise is great, since just a sentence or even just a phrase are usually quite enough to develop a whole story from if we are only willing to let our imagination and our subconscious mind take the rains for a while.
The story starter sentence:
Where did it go?
The instructions:
Read the above sentence a few time, then copy it out and begin writing the story, or just a scene from a story, or a flash, that it inspires. Once you have a firm grasp on what you would like to write put everything else aside and just write, for at least 30 minutes or, better yet, until the story is finished. Once you are done don’t reread it right away, but a few days later, then fix it up and write the second, perhaps even the third draft and then congratulate yourself, because you have finished another great story.
Stay creative!
