Picture Prompts: The Big House

by Vanja on May 21, 2009

Aren’t picture writing prompts just the best? All you have to do is look at a photo for awhile and all of a sudden a story begins to unfold in your mind. You give the picture before you inhabitants, so to speak, and then continue to give those inhabitants lives, a past, a family, wished, desires, boyfriends, girlfriends, children, mothers, fathers, best friends and so on and so forth. This week’s picture is a bit more surreal, perhaps more fitting to a fantasy or historical story, but, as always, you decide.

Here is this weeks picture prompt photo:

First look at the picture long enough to get a germ of a story or poem idea and then set out to write it. Write for at least a half an hour, or longer if you wish. Free write and try to finish the whole story in one sitting. Then set the story you have written aside for a few days and then return to it. Flesh it out, write the second and maybe the third draft until you are completely satisfied that it is finished. Then submit it somewhere. It is so wonderful to have a work of yours published!

Stay creative!
