Picture Prompts: The Secret House

by Vanja on July 6, 2009

We start off this new week (of doing creative writing exercises as often as possible) with another picture writing prompt. Now, the idea with these kind of creative writing exercises is that the picture shown is supposed to inspire you to write, be it a short story, a poem or even a novel. Quite possibly, looking at any kind of image long enough will make a creative mind start to see and imagine the story behind what is in the picture. So picture writing prompts are a superb way of let you imagination lose and getting it to allow you to write beautiful stories.

The picture prompt:

The instructions:

The image above is supposed to help you write a piece of creative fiction or poetry. So look at it until some sort of an event, situation, setting or even character pops out from it. Then sit down and write a story featuring that event, situation, setting, character or whatever. Once you start writing, write for at least 30 minutes and try to finish the whole piece in terms of the piece of writing you just completed having a clear beginning, middle and an end.

Stay creative!
